Community and Giving Back

Laverton Cycling Project

Country Pak are very proud to provide regular fresh produce to The Laverton Cycling Project (LCP), an indigenous, youth and community cycling program in remote Western Australia. The program is largely privately funded and would not occur without the incredible support and involvement of donors and volunteers. The program hosts children across several sessions and also several adult groups.

The importance of hosting both youth and adult populations is paramount as it evidences the ‘lifelong’ accessibility of cycling as a form of health, exercise and enjoyment. The children can also aspire to this as ‘this is what the adults do to’. Importantly it also creates a form of social facilitation for likeminded community members to come together and engage in a healthy pursuit; something that can be difficult to come by in this community.

The Laverton Cycling Classic

In September 2023, Country Pak donated fresh salad, vegetable and salads for the riders participating in the Laverton Cycling Classic. In this fundraising ride, 25 amazing cyclists rode long distances in the wide, open plains in one of Western Australia’s most remote and stunning regions, during wildflower season, departing 9th September with 4 and 8 day ride options; The funds raised make a real difference to First Nations kids in an at-risk community where this organisation teaches them to ride, to set goals, to aim high and dream big.

City to Surf Perth

Country Pak were given the first time opportunity to supply the fruit for nearly 20,000 walkers, runners and rollers who joined in the 2023 Chevron City to Surf for Activ! All participants were successful in helping to raise vital funds to support the thousands of people living with disability here in WA.

Bloody Long Walk Perth

The Bloody Long Walk in Perth is a 35km challenge on 13 August 2023 from South Perth to Cottesloe Beach. The event is owned and operated by the Mito Foundation to raise vital funds to help find cures for mitochondrial disease (mito).

Country Pak were very proud to provide the bananas, mandarins and apples at each of the checkpoints along the 35km Bloody Long Walk course. This provided some much-needed sustenance to the participants.

Mito is a debilitating and potentially fatal genetic disorder that impairs the body’s ability to convert food into the energy needed to power muscles and major organs; 1 in 200 people are at risk of developing mito. One Australian child born each week suffers a severe or life-threatening form of mito making it the second most diagnosed serious genetic disease after cystic fibrosis.

Dear lain and Michelle,

Manna is an organisation whose interest lies in the wellbeing of school students and supporting their capacity to participate fully in their educational challenges. Many of the schools we work with have students who experience food insecurity. We provide support for those students by delivering food from Foodbank and purchasing other items of food which go towards the School Breakfast Program. We also provide emergency lunches and food hampers for families experiencing crisis. Manna is currently supporting 50 schools and providing 5000 meals a week through the Kids Breakfast Program.

Country Pak’s continuing support of the School Breakfast Program with generous amounts of fruit on a weekly basis is sincerely appreciated. We all know the first thing to go for families experiencing food insecurity is fruit and vegetables. The only fruit that some children will get is the fruit that is donated by Country Pak and given out at school.

A special thanks to you for your generosity and willingness to continue with the supply of fruit to the School Breakfast Program. Our thanks also to the staff who have the trolley packed up and ready to go, always with a friendly smile.
Country Pak really does make a difference.
